(This is my translation of a popular Marathi poem, "Ashee paakhare yetee anik smrutee thewunee jaatee," by Mangesh Padgaonkar)
Beautiful minds touch my life;
Beautiful minds touch my life;
memories that are fond
Of happy times together;
Of happy times together;
and bonds that are strong.
The tender new moon crescent,
The tender new moon crescent,
from behind the trees
Blushes, and glows, and smiles,
Blushes, and glows, and smiles,
on this dark night with glee
The blossoming flower,
The blossoming flower,
craves to share its life,
It lasts only a while,
It lasts only a while,
but leaves fragrance to its soil
Then comes a gentle hand,
Then comes a gentle hand,
and shows me the light
With a candle from days gone by –
With a candle from days gone by –
‘twas still burning bright
Where and whence do souls meet,
Where and whence do souls meet,
giving birth to a song
The story of hearts united,
The story of hearts united,
the tunes that will live so long
