The Unshed Tear ... 2010

Precious as the pearl in the shell unopened
A beautiful way to manage the sand unpleasant

When eyes hold it back, your face gives it away
As your voice chokes with emotions astray

It’s not the ultimate pain – for that, you cry alone
It’s the ray of hope – for which you live through the drone

Treasure that unshed tear, preserve it with all your might
The shell will soon open, and emerge a pearl so bright

inspired by a verse from a Saba Afghani ghazal, "Gulshan kee faqat phoolon se naheen .." rendered by Jagjit Singh"

Jo aake ruke daaman pe ‘Saba’ wo ashq nahin hai paani hai,

The tears that fall into your lap, those are not tears but water
Tears that don’t flow from eyes, those are priceless tears
