What isn't ... 2010

On the heels of my blog-post "What is," I find myself celebrating the life of a dear friend - Gautam Bawdekar (1956-2010).

Some relationships are supposedly made in heaven - this one with Gautam was made in Grade 3. He and I chuckled recently how we used to be sworn enemies in the academic rat-race of the yester-year. That competition wasn't; what transcended it was!

Diametrically opposed on the spiritual spectrum, we were the best of business partners - making combined sales calls, playing good cop/ bad cop, and other such tools of the trade. The differences weren't; the complementarity was!

Gautam was an Energizer Bunny - eager to plunge into totally new territories, blaze new trails - learn from mistakes and move on, to the next life experience. What he had not hitherto done wasn't; the drive to explore was!

There is so much to celebrate - join me in the celebration.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

Your post is probably the best I’ve read on remembering and paying homage to a friend while celebrating his life. Great quote from Tagore and very fitting.

Enjoyed reading your blog and have bookmarked it for repeat visits.

Feeling really disturbed after hearing the news. I saw him recently at my reception. I always will remember him as being effervescent and enthusiastic. Really hard to come to terms with the fact that he has passed on.

However your post has a great thought that instead of mourning the loss, celebrate the life.
